Privacy Policy

Signal is a macOS app that helps you focus on three things a day. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. In short: your to-dos stay on your device, and the only thing that ever leaves your Mac is anonymous, non-personal usage statistics.

The short version

  • Your to-dos and history are stored only on your device. They are never sent to us or anyone else.
  • We collect a small amount of anonymous usage analytics that cannot identify you.
  • No accounts, no ads, no tracking across apps or websites, and we never sell your data.

Data stored on your device

Everything you type into Signal — your daily to-dos, their completion status, and your day-to-day history — is stored locally on your Mac using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData). This information:

  • never leaves your device,
  • is never transmitted to the developer or any third party,
  • is not accessible to us in any form.

If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.

Anonymous analytics

To understand how Signal is used and to improve it, the app collects a small amount of anonymous usage data through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service.

What’s collected:

  • when the app’s panel is opened, and whether that was manual, at launch, or from the daily prompt;
  • when you complete all three of a day’s to-dos.

What’s not collected:

  • the content of your to-dos or any text you enter;
  • your name, email, IP address, or any personal identifier;
  • your precise location;
  • any advertising or cross-app tracking identifier.

TelemetryDeck derives an anonymous, salted identifier for each installation so that usage can be counted without identifying anyone. This identifier cannot be traced back to you, and the data is not linked to your identity. TelemetryDeck is GDPR- and CCPA-compliant; you can read their privacy policy at https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy/.

No accounts, ads, or selling of data

Signal has no user accounts and no login. It contains no advertising, no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs, and we never sell or share your data with data brokers.

Network usage

The app connects to the network only to send the anonymous analytics signals described above. No other data is transmitted.

Children’s privacy

Signal is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Your choices and rights

Because the analytics data is fully anonymous, it cannot be associated with you and therefore cannot be individually identified, exported, or deleted on request. You can stop all analytics collection by removing the app. Your local to-do data is under your control and is deleted when you remove the app.
